The 47 Hour Firearms Training Course for Armed Security Guards includes use of Force/Deadly Physical Force and Range Instruction and Qualification. This course is mandated for all armed security guards in New York State and is the only one authorized for such training.
All instructors affiliated with our firearms training staff who provide New York State mandated firearms training are certified appropriately through the Security Guard Program (SGP) in accordance with Part 6029 of the New York State Compilation of Codes. Rules and Regulations (NYCRR).
Additionally, the Use of Force/Deadly Physical Force component of the firearms training course requires a written examination.
At the conclusion of training, a 50 question examination comprised of approved questions must be administered. A minimum score of 70 percent must be achieved by each student to satisfactorily complete this mandated training.
However, due to the litigious nature of this topic area, NYS strongly recommends that the minimum passing score be set at 100 percent.
The examination component for the Range Instruction is the actual qualification with the duty weapon by each student on the state qualification course. To qualify, each student is required to fire at least 2 qualifying scores consecutively with a score of 70 percent (175 of a possible 250) with service/duty ammunition.
MUST POSSESS N.Y.S. PISTOL PERMIT AND NYS SECURITY GUARD
CARD PRIOR TO TAKING THIS TRAINING
Course Cost is $700 per student
